I can tell you that Buhari and this desperate afterthought endorsement of June 12 is primarily aimed to spite Obasanjo.
There are political reasons too but this comes among the top 3.
Abeokuta produced 3 great sons among many others. Namely Fela. . Abiola and Obasanjo
They all never agreed.and it was wicked and mischievious for the then “powers thst be” to use any of Abeokuta’s sons against the other. (Shonekan from Abeokuta to rule instead of Abiola and Obj also from Abeokuta came to keep June 12 buried in his govt and other successful govts)
I strongly believe that Jonathan as passionate as he is couldn’t declare June 12 bcos of the overwhelming influence of Obj on his govt. And even this Buhari admin. would have continued to ignore June 12, if his and Obj’s relationship didn’t fall apart..Or else this endorsement would have come a lot sooner. If they really cared about us. I strongly feel bad. And I’m not fooled by this “gesture of goodwill ”
