Buhari Sacks Army Bodyguards’ From Aso Rock | TheNation

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate redeployment of officers and men of the Nigerian Army serving as his bodyguards in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The soldiers were brought to Aso Rock before Buhari assumed office on May 29, 2015

The soldiers have been replaced with officials of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) as presidential bodyguards.

The Nation gathered that the approval for the soldiers’ removal was given by President Buhari shortly before he traveled to United Kingdom on vacation.

A reliable source at the DSS headquarters confirmed the new development.

He also recalled that the battle between the two security agencies on who will provide protection to the President started soon after President Buhari moved into his official residence in Aso Rock in 2015.

He said there had been a running battle between the former Chief Security Officer, Abdulraman Mani and the Aide de Camp (ADC) to the President, Col. Lawal Abubakar, on which of the agencies should provide close protection to the President.

While Mani insisted on allowing men and officers of the DSS to protect the President in the inner circle, the ADC was rooting for soldiers to serve as bodyguards.

The battle between the two aides led to the removal of the former CSO by President Buhari.
