Ben Murray-Bruce, the Senator representing Bayelsa East District at the National Assembly, has responded to reports insinuating that he mismanaged funds meant for projects in his constituency.
Tracka, a BudgIt initiative dedicated to tracking implementation of government projects in communities across Nigeria to ensure service delivery, had questioned Murray-Bruce on the N140 million he requested in 2017 for improving the agriculture sector in his district.
The tweet by Tracka, posted via its Twitter handle, @TrackaNG on Saturday, read: “Sen @benmurraybruce, It’s 2 months now you’re yet to respond to our tweet request of N140m in the 2017 budget for crop cultivation and animal husbandry in Brass, Nembe and Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa East Senatorial District. What is the implementation status of the project?”
The tweet generated many reactions, and Murray-Bruce decided to address his response to a Twitter user, @Michael12Dennis, who particularly asked him to “give account.”
Bruce tweeted: “In saner climes, like you said, people verify before making false allegations. Just like I told @TrackaNG, I have never collected even 1 kobo to do any constituency project. I have no time for that! If your Senator does that, then face him, not me.”
