A proposed strike by British Airways pilots will cost the airline up to £40 million a day and prove “enormously disruptive” for passengers, the carrier admitted today.
It told the High Court that the proposed walkout, which could start in August, was being timed to cause maximum chaos at the peak of the summer season.
The admission was made as the airline failed in its bid for an interim injunction to block the action by the British Airline Pilots’ Association (Balpa).
BA insisted that it would take the case to the Court of Appeal and Balpa confirmed that it would put any strike action on hold until the outcome.
