Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has pledged his support for his former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying he will perform better than the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Obasanjo said Atiku will become the next Nigerian president and that he has the capacity to perform.
Obasanjo said “I have already forgiven Atiku after the latter sincerely apologized and showed remorse.”
At the press conference include the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, Chief Bode George, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Senator Liyel Imoke, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce and Otunba Oyewole Fasawe.
Atiku had visited Obasanjo to seek his support for next year’s presidential election.
Atiku arrived at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, for a meeting with former president at about 1.07p.m in a convoy of four vehicles.
The PDP presidential candidate did not come alone but was accompanied by the National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus, Senator Ben Bruce, the Director General of Atiku Campaign Organisation, Gbenga Daniel and a former governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke.
