We didn’t want to believe, but it’s looking increasingly like Apple really IS killing off the headphone jack for iPhone 7.
The latest evidence?
Er, just a set of actual Apple earbuds which plug in via the Lightning port – hinting that a headphone-less iPhone is on the way.
The picture surfaced on Chinese social network Weibo over the weekend, according to Cult of Mac.
The move would make the firm’s new smartphone – expected to launch in September – up to 1mm thinner, and the new model will include stereo speakers.
Instead, headphones will plug in via the Lightning connector – or connect wirelessly Bluetooth.
If true, it would mean that millions of iPhone users would have to upgrade their headphones, or use an adapter.
