Candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have won Saturday’s by-elections in Imo, Ondo and Cross River states.
But main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) triumphed in Plateau State.
In Imo State, the APC candidate, Mr. Blyden Okanni, won the Ngor Okpala State Constituency.
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Dennis Akoh, announced the result yesterday in Owerri, the state capital.

He said Okanni polled 9,248 votes to defeat Mr. Emeka Nwachukwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 7,161 votes.
Akoh, a professor at the Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwor (FUNAI) in Ebonyi State, said the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Christopher Nwaiwu, was third with 501 votes.
He said out of the 11 candidates that contested the by-election, the only female and candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Mrs. Joy Nze, got 15 votes.
The returning officer said a total of 18,083 voters were accredited for the poll out of a total of the 94,118 registered voters in the area.
He said the total valid votes cast were 17,280, while 582 votes were rejected.
But the PDP, through its State Chairman Charles Ugwu, alleged intimidation of its members by security agents, urging the INEC to either cancel the poll or order “an immediate recount of ALL the materials and Votes and reconcile them with the BVAS data”.
In Ondo State, the APC candidate, Lawson Mayorkun Alade, won the Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency, which used to be regarded as the PDP’s strongholds.
Alade polled 26,370 votes to defeat Olumuyiwa Adu of the PDP who got 24,201 votes.
Alade won in Akure North with 8,684 where Adu got 5,863. But in Akure South, Adu led with 18,338 while Alade garnered 17,686 votes.
Out of a total of 365,088 registered voters in Akure Federal Constituency, 52,546 persons were accredited while 51,346 was the number of the valid votes cast.
In Cross River State, APC candidate for Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, Mr. Jude Ngaji, won with 22,778 votes, while PDP’s candidate, Mr. Mike Usibe, polled 20,590 votes.
In the by-election for Akpabuyo State Constituency, PDP candidate Ekeng Effiom Edet won with 5,866 votes while the APC candidate, Ekpo Bassey, got 5,363 votes.
INEC Returning Officer Dr. Edor John Edor said the total number of registered voters in Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency was 193,618 out of which 45,877 voters were accredited.
The total votes cast was 45,356, out of which 43,828 were valid and 1,528 were rejected.
In Plateau State, PDP’s candidate for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Musa Agah, won the by-election.
INEC’s Returning Officer, Dr. Oyeyinka Oyerinda Agah, scored 40,343 votes to beat the PRP’s candidate, Muhammad Gwani, who scored 37,757 votes and APC’s candidate, Abbey Aku, who got 26,111 votes.
