Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Olisa Metuh, on Saturday faulted the leadership style of President Muhammadu Buhari.
They also expressed hope that their party, the PDP, would reclaim the presidency in 2019.
The duo spoke at the PDP South-East Zonal Executive Committee meeting in Enugu which was attended by the state governor,
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and the deputy governors of Ebonyi and Abia states, as well as some national assembly members from the zone.
Ekweremadu said Nigerians were already disenchanted with the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government.
In an address at the event, Ekweremadu thanked members of the party for “persevering” despite recent provocations.
Noting that the party was going through a difficult period, Ekweremadu said the party would overcome its current challenges, by the grace of God.
“These are trying times for us at PDP but we believe by the grace of God, we shall overcome,” he said.
Ekweremadu added, “The Federal Government should change its style in the management of the country otherwise we will have a major problem on our hands. I am not a prophet but I am sure that if they fail to do something there will be a revolution.”
Describing the Federal Government’s anti-graft war as ‘selective,’ Ekweremadu said, “It is now time for governance, the days of politics is over.”
On his part, Metuh, said the current investigations into the disbursement of funds from the office of a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd) was aimed at muzzling the opposition in the country.
Metuh said, “Anything that is built on lies and propaganda would never succeed. We support the anti-corruption battle – in fact, those who returned money should be exposed and prosecuted. But those being investigated should not be tried on the pages of newspapers.’’
