Lagos State Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has given a marching order to all the Local Government councils in the state to embark on fencing of markets in the state to curb menace constituted by market spillover.
The state’s commissioner for the Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare who disclosed this while monitoring the July edition of the monthly sanitation exercise held in Alimosho area of the state, said the entrenched practice of leaving the market shops to trade on roads is currently causing traffic congestion around market areas in the state.

Speaking further, Dr. Adejare said the state government is considering setting up mobile courts in Local Government Areas to tackle their challenges, adding that with the presence of the mobile courts efficient enforcement of bye-laws will be enhanced.
The Commissioner also warned members of the public to refrain from bribing environmental inspectors and health workers but rather, insist on paying fines into the state government’s bank account.
