Akeredolu Justifies Son’s Appointment As Ondo Agency DG

Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, on Monday swore in 14 new commissioners, special advisers and the director-general of the newly created Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit.

His son, Babajide Akeredolu, was among the appointees as he was inaugurated the Director-General of the new PPIMU.

At the swearing-in ceremony held at the International Culture and Event Centre Akure the state capital, the governor declared that his administration would continue to engage qualified and competent youths irrespective of their affinity.

He said, “This administration has been engaging members of the young generation on whose tender shoulders the future of this great country rests.

“We will continue to engage worthy youths regardless of the degree of affinity or otherwise. Only the fit and proper will join us.

“It is our resolve to invite anyone with requisite expertise to solve specific problems. We are indeed lucky that amidst the plenitude of highly qualified men and women in the state, we have been able to choose the members of the state executive council.

“These new appointees met the shortlist, either through positive recommendations by eminent personalities in the state or by sheer hard work, professionalism and unalloyed loyalty to our administration and the state.”

Explaining the motive behind the creation of the PPIMU headed by his son, the governor said the establishment was borne out of the need to recalibrate the development agenda of his administration.

“This will assist us in ensuring value for all resources being deployed by our government,” he said.

According to him, the PPIMU has been charged with a number of mandates, which include to design and implement project management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

The functions are also to enhance coordination and cohesion amongst government departments and agencies and to provide support to MDAs on the implementation of the agenda of the Government of Ondo State, to engender collaboration within focal MDAs in the implementation of the Ondo State Strategic Agenda, among others.

Congratulating the appointees, Akeredolu warned their families, friends and associates against mounting pressure on them. He charged them to support them to succeed in their new assignments.

The new commissioners are Mrs Bamidele Olateju, Mr Adefarati Adegboyega, Fatai Olotu, Dr Julianah Oshadahun, Dele Ologun, Mr Sunday Adekunle and Razak Obe.

Others include Emmanuel Igbasan, Mrs Yetunde Adeyanju, Mr Femi Agagu, Mr Wale Akinlosotu, Mrs Lola Fagbemi, Chief Olayato Aribo and Dr Banji Ajaka.

The newly sworn in special advisers are Chief Victor Ategbole, Dr Wunmi Ilawole, Mr Tobi Ogunleye, Dr Jibayo Adeyeye, Mrs Olamide Falana, Dr Francis Faduyile and Mr Niyi Oseni.
