GTBANK WARNS OF SERVICE DISRUPTION ON FRIDAY

Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) has notified its customers of an impending system upgrade, which will result in temporary service disruptions.

In a notice sent to customers on Wednesday, GTB said the upgrade is scheduled to begin on Friday.

According to GTB, due to the transition exercise, all its branches nationwide will close by 12pm on October 11 and reopen 9am on October 14.

Also, the bank said digital banking channels will experience service disruptions for 11 hours, starting October 13.

“As part of our commitment to bringing meaningful improvements to the lives of our customers by leveraging technology, we will begin the transition from our current Core Banking Application to a new and robust suite of Finacle Core Banking Application Systems on Friday, 11th of October 2024,” the bank said.

“During this period, we kindly ask you to bear with us as all our branches nationwide will close early to customers at 12:00 p.m on Friday, October 11th and reopen at 9:00 am on Monday, October 14th.

“Additionally, there will be service disruptions on our digital banking channels for 11 hours, specifically between 10:00 p.m on Sunday, October 13th and 9:00 am on Monday, October 14th.”

GTB said while branches would be closed, its digital channels will still be available for banking needs.

“However, service will be limited to transfers, bill payment, airtime and data purchase,” the bank said.

“Overall, this transition will allow us drive digital transformation to achieve insights-driven and frictionless interactions at all our customer touchpoints; enhancing the quality of customer experience we can deliver to you.”

The bank said it will keep customers updated on its progress as it works to simplify the banking experience.

GTB apologised to customers for any inconvenience the transition may cause and asked for their understanding.

On September 29, Zenith Bank informed its customers via various channels that its app would be automatically updated to a new version on October 1.

Following the development, the bank’s customers took to X to complain about their inability to access the financial institution’s mobile app.

Also, last week, First Bank customers took to X to express frustration over their inability to access the bank’s mobile platform.

First Bank, in response, issued a statement on October 1 apologising for the disruption and assuring customers that efforts were being made to resolve the issue.

On October 7, the bank provided updates and announced the full restoration of services on its mobile banking platform, Firstmobile, following a brief disruption caused by a recent upgrade of the application.
