Tribune: Nigerians Back Pastor Bakare’s Call For Renegotiation of Country’s Unity

FOLLOWING Pastor Tunde Bakare’s State of The Nation’s broadcast, Nigerians have backed the call for renegotiation of the country’s unity.

Trending Topic Forum on Facebook engaged Nigerians on social media in a discussion on the need to renegotiate the country’s unity, the majority of the respondents opined that Nigeria’s restructuring is long overdue.
Angel Idoko said: “I might not have fancy Pastor Bakare over the years, but his state of the nation broadcast yesterday (Sunday) sparked up my likening for him because he said so many things I’ve conversed for over the years.

“I believe he has woken up from his slumber. The aesthetic video of the new Nigeria he showed is what if his friend, President Muhammadu Buhari, should speedily adopt and save his head. His policy on restructuring is the way forward.”

Another respondent, Raheem Olu opined that “It’s long overdue, our unity is negotiable and we will need to meet to know if we should coexist or not.”

Also, Matthew Oluwatobi Olayiwola is of the view that unity cannot be forced in the midst of several goals.
“We can’t force unity with different goals; forcing unity always results to disintegration. Each region in Nigeria has difference goal,” he said.

John Osom Makbere takes a stand by sharing that “Only the blissfully ignorant would not know the value of what meaningfully engaging in talks can do to healing our wounds as a nation. And, whether they call it negotiation or anything else, it does not matter, what matters is the agenda and the issues involved.

“And, if we need not negotiate to be together, why are they busy negotiating land colonies for herdsmen cattle herders? One section of a union cannot claim to be impugned, immune and dictatorial to the rest.”

Nwanne Andrew also disclosed that “When a union, has, despite all efforts, refused to work there is every need that the parties come together for renegotiation. Those pretending that all is well with this union are deceiving themselves.”

Furthermore, Boladale Taofik Adekunle took his stand from the viewpoint that “If not because of any other reason(s), for these issues of Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram crises, Nigeria needs restructuring.”

According to reports, many agree that Nigeria is divided along tribal and religious lines; President Buhari’s regime has however made matters worse.

Sebastine Sayi included that “If you build a House on a wrong foundation it will one day collapse, Nigeria is built on a wrong foundation and needs to be restructured or else we will someday be consumed.”

Sunny Urhobo, however, puts forward against the backdrop of the discussion that “2019 Election Is Coming. They are doing what they are doing to get votes from the South East and South South.”
