Tribune: Buhari Apologises To Saraki, Dogara Over Access Denial To Villa

President Muhammadu Buhari has apologized to Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and members of the National Assembly for the access denied to the leadership of the National Assembly at the presidential villa, Abuja.

The leadership were meant to have a dinner with the president but had to turn back from the Pilot Gate of the villa as security operatives insisted on screening them individually.

They had driven in a Coaster bus when the security personnel demanded that they should alight to be screened one by one which they declined before turning back at the gate.

It was learnt that the Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari later succeeded in bringing back the presiding officers.

The president met with both men as well as Special Assistants on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang and Hon. Baraji Kawu on Thursday night and apologized for the embarrassment caused by security personnel at the seat of power.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was also at the meeting.

The president was said to have instructed the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari to collect the names of all the principal officers of both houses for the purpose of issuing them with a villa pass for unrestricted access.

Saraki confirmed that the issue that led to the embarrassment had been sorted out and the dinner has been fixed for Tuesday next week.

He also said a larger meeting with the entire leadership of the National Assembly will be held in the next few days.
