The SGF And The Lying Wailers! by Lauretta Onochie.

They have wailed about President Buhari’s work in renovating the dilapidated nation he inherited from PDP’s Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. We all know why. They no longer have unfettered access to the nation’s resources which they freely appropriated to themselves in the past. But because Nigerians are delighted with the work the president is doing, their wailing fell on deaf ears.<

They have wailed at just about anything, even about Pres. Buhari’s necessary and important foreign trips that have been instrumental to the improvement of Nigeria’s image and relations with the civilised world. How can anyone moan about positive strides of a leader aimed at strategically repositioning his nation and people on the global map of relevance?

As no one took them seriously, the PDP has turned their attention on the Secretary to the Government of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria SGF, Engr. Babachir David Lawal, knitting a web of unfounded mischievous allegations around him.

Their allegations are that Pres. Buhari promised to pay the fees of Nigerian students in the Amnesty Programme who where abandoned by their own PDP son and brother of Niger Delta extraction, Pres. Jonathan. But that’s where the truth ends and the fabrications began. They further alleged that the SGF has instructed the Special Adviser to the President on Amnesty Programme, Brigadier-General Paul Boroh (rtd) to release the sum of N2b from the Amnesty Programme accounts to support Chief Timipre Sylva’s election. Haba!

While it’s true that President Buhari has promised to pay the fees for these students who are studying overseas and who were abandoned and neglected through lack of funds under Pres. Jonathan, there is no iota of truth that such funds are being diverted to fund APC’s Chief Timipre Sylva’s gubernatorial election bid, just one week before the election. That the SGF and Timipre Sylva have a long standing friendship does not give anyone the impetus or authority to fabricate libellous lies against the person of the SGF. Again, serving in government does not translate into severing links with long standing friends. This is a ploy to force the SGF to severe relationships he has cultivated over the years and this is a cruel reminder of how PDP abandoned Nigerians subjecting them to the most horrific era of neglect in her history.

Also last month someone took out a paid advert in a newspaper falsely claiming the SGF ordered NDDC management to release N500,000,000 to Chief Timipre Sylva for his campaign failing which, the person claimed, the SGF will sack the management of NDDC! Come on now! It’s common knowledge that the SGF is the chairman of a committee set up by the President to reconstitute the Boards of Parastatals and Agencies. Those at NDDC are not immune to the up-coming restructuring. This is another ploy to arm-twist the SGF into maintaining the status quo at the NDDC, a known ATM of the PDP.

Nigerians are aware that constituted boards of government establishments played a great deal of role in running aground our nation, through sharp practices that enriched only the leadership of PDP and helped in entrenching poverty across the nation particularly in the Niger Delta. It’s therefore a relief for Nigerians that those who delivered mediocre services will soon be replaced by change proponents who understand the vision of, and can key into the zero tolerance stance on corruption by President Muhammadu Buhari. Consequently, we expect the SGF and his committee to bravely take the bull by the horn and sanitise the Boards of Parastatals and Agencies, including the NDDC. We implore the committee not to succumb to this cheap blackmail.

This scathing attacks on the Presidents men is clearly passing through the back door to cast aspersions on the anti-corruption war of Pres. Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. It is unacceptable! The PDP has been trying every known illegitimate trick in the book to smear the good image of the Federal government of Nigeria, to no avail. As it has not worked with the president, the ploy is to attack the Presidents principal officers.

The president, has taken time to put together a team of credible Nigerians, including the duo of the SGF, Engr. Babachir David Lawal and General Paul Boroh. The SGF is being maliciously attacked because of the rot he is unearthing at his office, formerly presided over by a PDP chieftain, the Chief Anyim Pius Anyim. They also know how the office of the SGF was used to bleed our nation under Pres. Jonathan. They do not reckon that it’s now different under Pres. Buhari.

This PDP habit of heaping unsubstantiated lies on those at the forefront of fighting the decay in our nation, is absurd to say the least and nauseating to put it succinctly. It’s a game of, “If you won’t cover for us, we would mount a false propaganda against you.” This is nothing but pure blackmail! Nigerians will not stand for it because blackmail is a crime.

This is a new Nigeria. Nigerians are wiser and they know the truth as information is readily and easily available today. Nigerians would want the PDP that failed them to back off so the government of President Buhari can effectively do the job they couldn’t do in 16 years. This wave of blackmail cannot hinder the work of recovering the stolen loot in the possession of those we entrusted with our nation’s common wealth, over the last 16 years. Its sad that they are the same ones who are shamelessly, using funds stolen from poor Nigerians to cast non-sticking aspersions on those we have elected and appointed over them, to bring sanity back into our nation.

The SGF is a busy man trying to do a difficult job by serving Nigerians in the best way that profit can accrue to all Nigerians, particularly the 110 million Nigerians abandoned in the throes of abject poverty. He is supporting the anti-corruption war of the President and will not succumb to blackmail from any quarter and particularly not from PDP’s paid Wailing Wailers.

Those who are out of government and who are using the loot they stole from all of us must know that neither President Buhari nor the SGF, Mr. Babachir David Lawal, is after any one. They only need to fear the consequences of their actions and inactions while in office.

Everyone must reap what they have sown. If you have sown wild oats, there’s no need expecting to reap wild Ixora. Mounting a smear campaign will not diminish the war against corruption nor intimidate those at the fore front of this fight for the life and soul of Nigeria. Nigerians know those who are fighting for them. They also do not appreciate those who maliciously fight those who are working hard to please them. Our President and his team are working in the interest of all Nigerians.

We as Nigerians must throw our weight behind the efforts being made by President Muhammadu Buhari and his team of credible men and women. They are working hard to clean the mess left by PDP’s mis-governance, particularly in the last six years. The task of recovering our nation from the strangle hold of a few to a nation that belongs to all, cannot be thwarted.

On Nigeria We stand!
