Seven New Countries Added To UK Travel Red List Putting Summer Holidays At Risk | Staffordshire

These are the countries that have been added to the red list

The Government has added seven new countries to the “red list” that forces holidaymakers to quarantine in hotels.

In the last review by the Government, no new countries were added to the green list, but seven have been added to the UK’s red list.

They are Egypt, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, Bahrain, Sudan, Trinidad and Tobago and Afghanistan, with everyone arriving from these countries required to complete hotel quarantine at a cost of £1,750 per person.

This increases the number of countries on the coronavirus red list from 43 to 50 countries.

The next government review of the UK’s travel list of countries is due at the end of this month, according to Downing Street.

The Prime Minister’s official spokesperson told reporters on June 17: “There is a three-week review point, so the next check point is coming up at the end of this month.”

The spokesman added that he believed this would be no later than June 28, reports LeicestershireLive.

The last travel review was announced on June 3, and the government has indicated they would take place every three weeks, making June 24 the most likely date for the next review.
