PSS: Personal Survival Scheme By Adebowale Samuel

PIC 6. THE CROWD AT A PROTEST RALLY AT GANI FAWEHINMI GARDENS AT OJOTA IN LAGOS ON FRIDAY (13/1/12).

I’ve come to realise that majority of the citizens of this country but young and old has lost the hope of this nation becoming better, any time soon, not because of any other reason but because every angle they have looked to has been thrones of disappointments.

We have voted tribe, but it failed us, we’ve voted religion, it didn’t get any better, we voted political party, it also became a thorn in the flesh and we’ve even voted experience and I’m sure you know the outcome of it and this has been the reason why nearly everyone has developed this Personal Survival Scheme (PS²) where they don’t expect anything from Nigeria or contribute anything to Nigeria.
They are rather trying everything possible to make ends meet for themselves and their family under this harsh economic condition or fly to a safe haven somewhere abroad.

It is not that this decision is bad but it is unhealthy for this nation Nigeria, because the longer it takes for us to do something about the NATION within our individual capacities, the longer it will take for her to be better.

Travelling abroad is not and will never be a crime but what do you think about the situation where you travel abroad and you can boldly say that I’m a Nigerian and everybody wants to associate with you, treating you with respect and honour that the reputation of your Nation has conferred on you.

Its not all about the money, it’s more of the interest. I don’t even have enough Naira in my account to visit Tantalizers at the moment but I have a pen, a paper and my phone which has internet access and subscription through which I can create an awareness about making this nation great again.

What do you have? And how are you using it in the interest of NIGERIA?
