The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, yesterday grounded two foreign registered aircraft, a Bombardier 700-100, marked G-RBEN Global express S/N 9083 and an Embraer 135 J with Registration No, XA-MHA, for operating in the country’s airspace with falsified flight clearance information.

in the country.Mr. Adurogboye pointed out that the operator of G-RBEN aircraft, Gama Aviation, United (UK) Limited, was found operating in Nigeria’s airspace with falsified flight clearance information and conducting illegal domestic flight operations.

He also stressed that the offence of the operator in the case of the Embraer 135BJ with Registration marks XA-MHA was that it operated the aircraft from Farnborough, London, and landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on September 10, 2015, without any flight clearance from NCAA.

Adurogboye said: “Other infractions are conducting illegal commercial revenue flight operations, contrary to conditions contained in Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations, NCAR’s, Part 10 and security violations.

“Reports from the Air Traffic Controllers, ATC, indicated that the crew informed them that they possessed a ministerial approval for the flight.

However, on landing, the crew could not produce any ministerial approval as claimed.”

Mr. Adurogboye noted that the Bombardier 700-100 had a United Kingdom Air Operators Certificate, AOC, and had been carrying out several domestic operations between Abuja and Lagos without the authority’s permit/certification in accordance with Nigerian CARs Part 10.

He said the two aircraft would remain grounded while further investigation by the regulatory authority on the issue continued, adding that the aircraft country registry in UK CAA and Mexican Civil Aviation Authority, MCAA, would be notified appropriately.

“The Legal and Enforcement department of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, will after the conclusion of the investigation, proffer appropriate sanctions and enforcement procedure according to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, Nig. CARs,” he affirmed.

Meanwhile, the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Capt. Muhtar Usman, has reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to the enforcement of compliance to safety regulations and zero tolerance for any form of violation.
