Group Backs Ambode On Appointments In LGAs

A political pressure group operating under the aegis of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard has said the decision of the Lagos State Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to monitor the recent appointment of Secretary to the Local Government and Supervisory Councilors in all the local councils is meant to avert crisis.

The state Coordinator of the group, Mr. Seyi Bamigbade who stated this when he received some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus who decamped to the group stated that the appointments were in line with the administration’s drive to continue to reposition the Local Government Administration for efficient performance and service delivery.

Bamigbade said, “We are proud the governor wants to protect and nourish that spirit that binds the party together. If the governor has not done this the party chieftains will impose their relations on the people. What the governor has done is to ensure that competent people are given the appointments.

“The extension of political offices to all the parts of Lagos States, aside the establishment of first DNA Forensic centre in West Africa, the provision of qualitative education for Lagosians children, as well as the good security, Good Roads, Food Security to mention few is a good one for the state.

“The good leadership started from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu started this good work in Lagos .To the best of my knowledge based on available records and facts on ground, Ambode’s transformation of Lagos State is unprecedented in the history of Lagos State.

“His performance in office speaks volumes for him. He wants a team that will compliment this performance at the grassroots level Unlike, the previous era when some set of people used Local Council’s funds to reimburse their godfathers, Ambode in his own God-given wisdom identified this cankerworm that had eaten deep into the fabric of Lagos State politics and stopped it . We are in support of this resolve. It is a step in the right direction.”

According to him, the positive impacts of Ambode’s policy of no to god-fatherism in Local Councils cannot be underestimated, adding that the entire people of Alimosho are unanimously lauding the governor for taken the bold step.

Bamigbade, urged the local council who blatantly refused the suggested list of candidates presented by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to the Local Government to understand the importance of getting the right professionals into those offices.
