DO YOU LIVE IN THE PAST, THE PRESENT OR THE FUTURE?

Femi Adegoke

There are three types of people when it comes to appreciation of events and opportunities. Some live in the past , some in the present and others in the future.

It is when events have passed that people who live in the past realize, if at all, the opportunities missed, They believe in doing things the way it has always been done. They are mortally afraid of change in any form

There are many who live in the future, they are dreamers and are always looking for when conditions are perfect before they can act even when opportunities that can lead to that perfect state stare them in the face.

Some on the other hand live in the present, they take in the lessons of the past while keeping the ideal goals in sight. They are never afraid to try new things

This election is an opportunity to define yourself, whether you live in the present, the past or the future.

From my observations, the people who live in the future are those who argue that there is no difference between PDP and APC and as such they are not going to vote until such a time when we have a party of clean and un-corrupted people.

Those who live in the past are those who would rather let us continue with what we have, warts and all, because they are afraid that the ones coming may be worse. They cannot see any redeeming feature in the elections.

Those living in the present know that nature abhors a vacuum, They know that though APC and PDP have bad characters in equal measures, yet the opportunity of a credible election via the use of PVC and Card Reader Machines should not be missed. They see this is an opportunity to really transfer power to the people rather than politicians rigging themselves into power and therefore not being accountable to the people. A condition that has subsisted till now.

Where do you belong?

  1. God bless this writer! I belong in the present and I am not afraid to use my PVC to contribute to the destiny of my country. What i see today in my country does not give me joy and happiness and I am ready to stand for my country by being a change agent for the good of my country and benefit of her country men, women and children. God bless Nigeria.
