Appeal To Ajimobi On LG Election By Jimoh Mumin

Your Excellency, I feel happy as an ordinary citizen to draw your attention to an issue that is bothering the good people of Oyo state.

Your Excellency, since you came on board as governor of this state in 2011, the local government areas in the state have been governed by caretaker chairmen.

The caretaker chairmen were appointed by you to man affairs at the grass roots.

Sir, the non-conduct of council polls has to stop. The continued headship of local government areas by caretaker chairmen needs to stop, so that the allocations meant for the local government areas can be judiciously utilised by the democratically elected chairmen for the overall good of the state.

I am of the opinion that if the local government election comes up now, the poor people who have no direct access to Senator Abiola Ajimobi’s office will go to their local government chairmen to solve their problems.

As many Nigerians have pointed out over the years, the allocations meant for local government areas in Nigeria have been tampered with through caretaker chairmen.

This is not done in the United Kingdom and the United States.

Once again, we are looking forward to voting in local government chairmen in Oyo State.

I want to urge all our politicians in Oyo State to emulate Chief Obafemi Awolowo who used his good office to give the Western Region a massive turnaround.
